In 2012, Florian Kuhlmann (LEVERTON CTO), was conducting research for the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy in cooperation with the German Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) on a set of proprietary machine and deep learning algorithms that could be utilized for extracting structured data out of unstructured documentation. This research was eventually spun out into the foundations of LEVERTON in Berlin, Germany. For several years after establishing the company, LEVERTON focused its commercial development of both its advanced algorithms and software package. Finally, in late 2014, a notable real estate private equity firm heard us speaking at a conference on the ability to use artificial intelligence to semi-automate the process of information extraction from documents in a variety of languages. They had a portfolio of 90 assets that needed lease abstraction in a limited amount of time because of a tight due diligence window. LEVERTON, by accident or luck, got its first customer and entered the world of real estate documentation abstraction.
Since then, LEVERTON has greatly expanded its team, operations, and business. We’ve developed our platform into a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model that anyone can use whether you are a small business, a large real estate owner, a brokerage / capital markets firm, Fortune 500 company, or big 4 accounting firm. In 2016 we expanded our operations into London, New York, and Dallas in addition to our Berlin headquarters. We’ve grown into 90 person team that has LEVERTONians that come from over 25 nationalities. Our customers, product, and people are our priorities and we strive to help customers and partners all over the world make smarter decisions using better data. In 2017, LEVERTON won the Best Technology and Innovation Awards at Realcomm, MIPIM, and CoreNet (See Why We Won). 2018 is off to a great start with over 6,000 users on the platform globally, LEVERTON is ready to scale!
